Model Overview

The Bestune Yueyi 03 is the first production model under FAW Bestune’s new energy vehicle (NEV) series, "Yueyi". Officially launched during the "Yueyi Night" event in Wuzhen on 27 March 2025, the EV received its annual facelift on 8 March 2026. The 2026 Yueyi 03 is offered in 6 variants, with official retail prices ranging from RM79,800 to RM119,900, dropping further when combined with government and corporate trade-in subsidies. Positioned as an "extra-spacious all-electric family SUV", the model is tailored to meet the motoring needs of young families, with a specific focus on female drivers. Built on FAW Bestune's Yueying architecture and developed from the ground up on the FME dedicated EV platform, the Yueyi 03 serves as a core product in Bestune’s comprehensive brand electrification strategy.
Design Language
The 2026 Yueyi 03 incorporates the "Spatiotemporal Light and Shadow Aesthetics" design language, sculpting dynamic, rhythmic body lines through the interplay of light and shade. Up front, it features a signature closed-off EV grille flanked by sharp split LED headlamp assemblies with boomerang-style daytime running lights (DRLs); the lower bumper sports a tiered vertical-slat intake that adds distinct visual depth. Along the sides, sleek character lines are complemented by semi-flush door handles and aero-optimised alloy wheels, with the charging port positioned on the front left fender. The rear end is highlighted by a full-width LED light bar, a gloss black rear lower bumper, and a subtle roof spoiler. Drawing inspiration from morning dew, the wing mirrors are sculpted to lower aerodynamic drag while enhancing rearward visibility. The SUV achieves an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.248 Cd. Dimensions-wise, it measures 4,450 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, riding on a 2,750 mm wheelbase. Five exterior paint options are on offer: Que She Cui (Sparrow Tongue Green), Yun Hai Bai (Cloud Sea White), Shan Jian Yin (Mountain Stream Silver), Xing Yun Qing (Nebula Cyan), alongside the newly introduced Chen Hui Jin (Morning Glow Gold) for the 2026 model year. Inside, the cabin adopts a wrap-around layout designed around the concept of "home-like comfort". The 2026 iteration introduces a new Chen Xi Bai (Dawn White) interior theme while carrying over the classic Nuan Yang Zong (Warm Sun Brown) and Liu Yun Hui (Floating Cloud Grey) options, finished with soft-touch materials and brushed metallic trim.
Powertrain & Performance
Across the entire range, the 2026 Yueyi 03 is driven by a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) integrating Ji'ou 8-in-1 electric drive technology. The motor churns out a maximum power of 122 kW and 200 Nm of peak torque, reaching a top speed of 160 km/h. Energy is supplied by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs available in 48.35 kWh and 61.47 kWh capacities, delivering CLTC-rated driving ranges of 445 km and 565 km respectively. In terms of energy efficiency, the SUV consumes a low 11.8 kWh per 100 km, equating to an ultra-low running cost of around 6 cents per kilometre. Fast-charging capability allows the battery to gain approximately 120 km of range in just 10 minutes. Furthermore, the vehicle comes with a 3.3 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external power supply function, catering to outdoor camping and electrical appliance needs.
Chassis & Handling
The 2026 Yueyi 03 features a monocoque body construction in a front-engine, front-wheel-drive (FWD) setup. Ride and handling are handled by a front MacPherson strut independent suspension and a rear torsion beam semi-independent setup, paired with electric power steering (EPS). Braking performance is provided by all-round disc brakes with an electronic parking brake (EPB). Wheel options include 17-inch and 18-inch alloys. Drivers can toggle between four driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Snow. The chassis setup leans towards overall ride comfort, though road tests note a slightly firm damping setup that delivers reassuring high-speed stability on tarmac.
Cabin & Equipment
Inside, the 2026 Yueyi 03 is fitted as standard with an 8.8-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch floating touchscreen infotainment display. The system runs on the "Ruyi Cockpit" OS with integrated DeepSeek AI large language models, supporting dual-zone voice recognition, continuous voice dialogue, and "see and speak" functionality. Connectivity includes AutoNavi navigation, HUAWEI HiCar, Carlink, along with 4G telematics and over-the-air (OTA) software updates. The driver gets a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and an electronic steering column-mounted gear selector (stalk shifter). For added comfort, the 2026 model gains an extra 15 mm of soft foam padding in the rear seats; the front seats benefit from seat heating and driver seat ventilation. Standard equipment across all variants includes a panoramic glass roof, rain-sensing wipers, one-touch power windows all round, automatic climate control, driver-side keyless entry, and NFC/Bluetooth digital keys. The cabin provides 22 storage cubbies, while boot space is rated at 415 litres, expandable to 1,601 litres with the rear seats folded down. Mid-to-high-spec variants further add heated and power-folding wing mirrors. Remote smartphone app connectivity is also supported, enabling users to pre-cool or pre-condition the cabin remotely.
Safety & Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
On the safety front, the 2026 Yueyi 03 comes equipped with 6 airbags as standard, although the entry-level 445km Shuyue variant drops two side curtain airbags compared to the previous model. The body shell is engineered to meet C-NCAP five-star crash safety standards, and the battery pack complies with the latest national safety testing standards. For driving aids, the 2026 Yueyi 03 packs Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) as standard across the range, utilising a sensor suite of 5 cameras and 4 ultrasonic parking sensors. Active safety features include full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB). The 2026 update adds Lane Change Assist (LCA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA), alongside a 360-degree surround-view camera system fitted as standard across all variants. The vehicle also supports Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) updates.
Market Performance & Reception
The Yueyi 03 stands as a vital sales driver for FAW Bestune. Following its market introduction in 2025, monthly sales hovered steadily between 2,000 and 3,000 units, surpassing the 5,000-unit mark during the year-end buying rush. Moving into 2026, deliveries saw a slight moderation, with January recording 1,544 units and total Q1 2026 sales reaching 4,018 units. Owner sentiment has been largely positive, praising its compelling value proposition, generous cabin room (courtesy of the 2,750 mm wheelbase providing ample rear legroom and boot capacity), and reliable real-world battery range. Conversely, some owners have pointed out a firmer-than-expected ride quality, noticeable new-car interior odour, and isolated build quality complaints regarding door lock glitches and minor cabin rattles. On the whole, by playing to its key strengths—"generous cabin space, solid EV range, accessible pricing, and state-backed warranty backing"—and leveraging FAW Group’s 70-year manufacturing heritage alongside an unconditional lifetime warranty covering the vehicle and electric drivetrain (battery, motor, and electronic control unit), the Bestune Yueyi 03 demonstrates strong product appeal in the competitive sub-RM100,000 electric SUV segment.
